Yoga for 3 to 5-Year-Olds and Yoga for 5 to 8-Year-Olds encourages children to do what they do best: play, explore the world through movement, and focus deeply and completely on the present moment. Children are introduced to simple poses as they let their imaginations run wild by imitating animals, the natural world, and everyday objects. Poses are practiced through simple storytelling and games. Each class follows a predictable rhythm so that children can feel confident in moving from welcome and grounding time through the active, silly, playful movement of poses to quiet moments of relaxation and simple breathing practice.
A note that the Wednesday class for 5-8 year olds has been postponed. There is still some room in the 3-5 year olds if you have a little one wishing to do yoga!
The benefits of yoga for young children are to encourage mind-body connection from an early age so that children grow up never losing sight of the light and beauty within themselves and each other, to be comfortable in their bodies, and to aid them as they develop ever greater concentration, patience, strength, and stability. Families receive a weekly update of poses and activities done in class so that parents and caregivers may practice yoga together with their child at home.
